Our Mission

Why DIKSHa exists

High rates of unemployment amongst youth in India stem from a gap in knowledge, skills and access to opportunity. DIKSHa exists to close that gap — with trainings that lead directly to formal jobs and dignified livelihoods.

Skill

Deliver NSDC-certified training in trades where employers are actively hiring — healthcare, retail, IT-enabled services, personal grooming, garments, safety and electrical work.

Empower

Prepare trainees not just technically, but with the life skills, confidence and workplace readiness needed to sustain a career and build a future.

Transform

Connect certified trainees to placement partners and self-employment opportunities — transforming individual lives and, through them, the households and communities around them.

About the Programme

Building resilient communities through skills

Dalmia Bharat Foundation has been working on improving the skills of the neighbouring community to ensure better livelihoods. Our focus is to make communities more resilient and sustainable with additional avenues of income — through skill trainings in farm and non-farm sectors, community-based organisations, and access to finance.

DIKSHa stands for Dalmia Institute of Knowledge and Skill Harnessing

DBF signed an MoU with the National Skill Development Corporation in 2016, with an aim to train 60,000 youth in ten trades through eight skill development centres. The first centre was set up in Trichy, Tamil Nadu; today the network spans twelve centres across India.

With the success and happiness of our trainees, and the positive reinforcement of our placement partners, DBF continues to skill India's youth — and set them on a path to a bright future.

The Journey

From mobilisation to placement

Every DIKSHa trainee moves through four stages — a structured journey that turns interest into skill, and skill into employment.

📣

Mobilise

Field mobilisers meet youth in the community — assessing interest, aptitude, and family support to enroll the right candidates.

Step 01
🎓

Train

Trainees join a batch and complete the trade curriculum — classroom sessions, hands-on labs, soft-skills modules, and industry exposure.

Step 02

Certify

Every trainee sits an NSDC-aligned assessment. On passing, they receive a nationally-recognised certificate — a credential valid across India.

Step 03
💼

Place

Placement officers connect certified trainees with employer partners in their sector — with post-placement follow-up to ensure retention.

Step 04
What we teach

Nine industry-aligned trades

Every DIKSHa job role is certified against NSDC standards. Curriculum, assessment and certification are all mapped to the National Skills Qualification Framework — so a certificate earned at DIKSHa is recognised across India.
